A Case of Libel

A Case of Libel is based on attorney Louis Nizer's account of the famous legal battle between two friends whose friendship turned venomous. One is a celebrated war correspondent; the other, a widely syndicated newspaper columnist who has methodically and systematically attacked the correspondent in the press. The attacks accuse the correspondent of being a sexual degenerate, a hopeless "lush", and a yellow-bellied coward. The correspondent tries to fight back but can do nothing unless he goes to court. Therein lies the story, the drama, the tension, and a close look at how "justice" works.
