University Computer Services is charged with the operations and management of all campus networks and multi-user systems while departments are responsible for operating and managing application software. Departments pursuing new applications should seek advice and coordination from University Computer Services toward planning and implementation.

It is the responsibility of the managers of each functional unit to review their operation and determine if automated data processing support could benefit their unit. Users are encouraged to seek help from University Computer Services in this process. University Computer Services can help identify and define needs, evaluate alternatives and propose one or more solutions if appropriate. As with any other purchases, the funding is the responsibility of the individual unit.

The current generation of microcomputers are high powered work stations. These work stations, when combined with appropriate software and training, can enhance work quality and productivity. Complex applications may require professional programming expertise and may have to be referred to the host system data processing for support.

University Computer Services offers training and support services on University standard software.

Information regarding site licenses can be obtained through the Procurement office at extension 5300.

Equipment maintenance is the responsibility of the user. Information regarding maintenance contracts with the University approved vendor can be obtained through the Procurement office at extension 5300.
