Fiscal Agent Handbook Index | Civil Service Recruiting Index

The University does not discriminate against individuals because of their race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, handicap or status as disabled, or Vietnam era veteran.

The University reaffirms its commitment to ensure an environment for all employees which is fair, humane and respectful - an environment which supports and rewards performance on the basis of relevant factors of job performance as identified in the job description.

The following sources are used to recruit prospective Civil Service employees. The method used depends upon the employment market and the type of position to be filled.

Posting: Position vacancies are posted on the University web site and publicly posted in Personnel, on the Civil Service bulletin board, and in several other locations on campus. The Civil Service bulletin board is located on the main floor outside Purchasing.
Advertising: When need warrants it, the University will advertise in Chicago and/or neighborhood newspapers.
Employment Agency: The University is not permitted to recruit Civil Service employees through private firms. However, positions are listed with non-profit agencies such as the Illinois State Employment Service, Jewish vocational centers, Mayor's Office for Employment and Training, and other non-profit institutions.
Job Fairs: The University participates in job fairs.
Referral: A number of applicants are referred to the University by employees, students and the neighborhood community.
Walk-in: A number of individuals walk in seeking employment opportunities at the University.

Referrals and walk-ins should be directed to Human Resources located in the Building on Bernard.
