Career Change: Everything You Need to Know to Meet New Challenges and Take Control of Your Career

Dr. David P. Helfand is the Coordinator of Career Counsiling in the Northeastern Illinois University Counseling Office where the major focus of his work is helping returning adult undergraduate students, graduate students, alumni and traditional age college students identify career options.

Dr. Helfand, both a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a National Certified Career Counselor, earned a Masters in Guidance and Counseling and Doctorate in Counselor Education from Loyola University in Chicago. He is a member of the American Counseling Association, National Career Development Association, Career Planning and Adult Development Network and the Chicago Chapter of the Association of Career Professionals
International.


Dr. Helfand has published and presented in the career counseling field on both the state and national levels, as well as being interviewed on radio, television and in the print media. In addition, Dr. Helfand is currently serving as a career counselor at Gannett Newspaper Web Sites and is a member of the panel of experts at FindLaw's infirmation.com law site. He's regularly featured in articles and reviews at several prominent Internet career sites including careerbuilder.com, monster.com, quintcareers.com, careermag.com. Dr. Helfand was recently appointed as an Associate Editor for the new National Career Development Association's web-magazine Career Convergence (http://www.ncda.org). Dr. Helfand is responsible for covering career counseling/management activities in Organizations (business/corporate settings).
 

Career Change, Dr. Helfand's first book now in it's 2nd edition, offers practical strategies for career changers and the challenges they face. Career Change was selected as a Top Ten Career Book for 1999 by Joyce Lain Kennedy, Los Angeles Times Syndicate career columnist and author.
