Transforming Vision
into Action.

The Chicago Teachers’ Center develops collaborative partnerships that engage the entire community in helping students to succeed both academically and socially. Founded in 1978, CTC is an innovator in creating model programs for teachers, families and students that translate visions for school improvement into concrete action. As an academic educational unit of Northeastern Illinois University’s College of Education, we are in a unique position to respond to the needs of these communities.

Hetland Comes to Berwyn

Internationally respected educator and researcher Lois Hetland (left), shared her approach to assessing student art work at a workshop on January 21st.

Lois put Berwyn South School District 100 teachers and artists together to create temporary art with the theme of "What Does Learning Look Like?" using whatever "found" objects each team could find in the classroom.

This workshop was made possible with funding from the U.S. Department of Education’s Professional Development for Arts Educators Grant Program.

CTC’s Arts at the Center program works with K to 8 teachers.
