My last job forced me to
explore various opportunities to improve my education in business related
fields. My decision was a consequence of the past and present my career
as a researcher, lecturer and programmer.
I got an Engineering
Degree in Physics from Ural State Technical
University 
in
1982 and began my post-graduate study two years later. Performing computer
based calculations of phonons in transition metals I gained valuable knowledge
of mathematical computational methods and significant experience in dealing
with computers. 
During my post-graduate study and in the following three years (1987-1989),
I taught General Physics as an assistant and obtained certain
experiences of public performance and communication with people. At the
last stage of my career as a researcher ( 1990-1991 ) I worked on
numerical techniques of processing experimental data and became familiar
with statistical methods of analysis of observations. Such an education
provides strong analytical and mathematical background for the training
of any kind. But regrettably it is not specific and inadequate to act in
the rapidly changing environment of modern computer business.

Before coming to Chicago
in 1997, I occupied the position of a Vice chief of the Department
of Applied Programming in the joint stock company SKB
Kontur. 
It
is the largest developer of accounting software and one of the main distributors
of computer hardware in Ekaterinburg,
Russia and throughout the Urals. It operates in rather competitive
hardware and software Russian market.
My responsibilities included elaboration and implementation of accounting
software for the budgetary organizations. I communicated with both
customers and programmers supervising a small group of programers. Learning
how to manage software development projects as well as financial, human
and other resources at the level of enterprise was my purpose to pursue
the graduate study in management.

Accounting data is the main source of information
for financial analysis and enterprise resource management (ERP). Computer
software in the field of ERP will be of a great demand throughout
the World in the nearest future. Doing my MBA degree, I want to explore
opportunities of international cooperation in this field. After completing
the MBA program, I hope to continue my career applying gained knowledge
and experience to promote computer technologies in accounting and
management.
