HOLLIS-SAWYER, Ph.D. Program Coordinator.
Lisa A. Hollis-Sawyer, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Master's
Gerontology program and Psychology Department at Northeastern Illinois
University. She received her doctorate in Industrial Gerontology
from The University of Akron and
Dr. Condon is a Professor Emeritus of the
Psychology department at Northeastern Illinois University. She received
her Ph.D. in Experimental/Theoretical Psychology from Loyola University
of Chicago. Subsequently, she returned there to obtain training in Clinical
Psychology and is currently a Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
She has over 30 years of experience in
both teaching and clinical work. In 1990 she took a year-long sabbatical
from the university to train for the Gerontology program where she then
taught the clinical courses of the program.
Her on-going research focuses on “quality
of life” aging issues related to elder caregiving, the workplace,
retirement adjustment, and later-life adaptation. Her area of specialty
is later-life education and career work life extension with an aging workforce.
Masami Takahashi is an assistant professor
in the Gerontology Masters program and Psychology Department at Northeastern
Illinois University. He received his undergraduate training
in Texas, and eventually received his Ph. D. in Developmental Psychology
from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA. His research interest has
been focusing on age-appropriate psychological constructs such as
wisdom and spirituality. In addition, he also films aging experiences
in various
Rebecca Berman received her PhD in Anthropology from Northwestern University
as part of Northwestern University’s Program in Ethnography and
Public Policy. Dr. Berman has worked as an independent research consultant
in the field of aging since 1988. She has been affiliated with the MA in
Gerontology Program at Northeastern Illinois University since 1993, both
as a full time and part time faculty member, where she has coordinated
Graduate Field Experiences and developed a variety of courses as part of
an interdisciplinary curriculum for the program.
ADJUNCT FACULTY
JEAN SUMMERFIELD M.P.H.
conducted post-doctoral aging-related training at Boston University.
Her research interests range from eldercare to aging workforce issues.
Her current research is focusing on the impact of children's literature
regarding aging on early aging perceptions and associated stereotyping
tendencies.
