SCHEDULED MEETINGS FOR DECLARATION OF A MAJOR IN PSYCHOLOGY, OR A MINOR IN PSYCHOLOGY OR GERONTOLOGY:

 

ALL HELD IN ROOM S‑305 on the dates and times posted below.  Bring with you:

 

1) ballpoint pen

2) declaration form (if doing this in conjunction with another department), or we will provide it

3) * NEIU Evaluation of Transfer Credits form  (if any psych courses are on it).   If you do not have the transfer courses list,  come  to a later meeting; your credits cannot be processed without it.

4) NEIU unofficial transcript   (only if any psych or psych transfer courses  are on it)

5) a folder or notebook to hold your old and new paperwork

 

Meetings start at the posted times, and will not be re-started for latecomers. 

The agenda will consist of:

 

1)  Distribution of forms and misc. paper handouts and instructional/information sheets.

The bulk of later information you will be responsible to download from the Psychology Student Info Blackboard site.

2) approx 15-20 minutes of general information and instructions

3) question and answer period

4) individual conferences with each student, by order of arrival in the room, wherein your department major/minor chart will be created, transfer courses evaluated, and assignment to a department faculty advisor.

 

* If you have an exceptional case, of unusual or extraordinary transfer courses, or other unique requests, you may be requested to submit course descriptions and/or transcripts, in writing, to the department for review by the dept. curriculum committee.  A sheet of guideline tips for appeals is available for download from the Psychology Student Info  Blackboard site. 

 

 

SCHEDULE OF DECLARATION WORKSHOPS – Spring 2008 term:

On days in which classes are in session (excluding holidays, spring break, semester breaks, and finals):

 

Mondays at 3:30,    and     Tuesdays at 1:40

All in room S-305

 

In addition,   one  evening of the month at 5:40 p.m.   The evening sessions will be held only if anyone reserves a place by sending a confirming E-mail to :  j-lattie@neiu.edu    by the Friday  before, containing full name and student ID number.  These are confirming sign-ups, they will not be responded to.  Day meetings are walk-in.   Email signups are ONLY for the evening meetings;  they will not be acknowledged – you have simply signed up a promise to attend.  If no one signs up, I won’t stay for the evening.  If you cannot attend the evening meeting for which you signed up, you must  send a subsequent message to cancel 24 hours in advance (or I will remember you!)

 

The evening meetings for the Spring 2087 term  are, second Mon of each month:

 Mon, Jan 14;  Mon, Feb 11;  Mon, Mar 10; and Mon, Apr 14.
