Course Requirements
1. Short answer assignments: There will be two required assignments.
These assignments are to help you think through the issues raised in the
readings and lectures. Therefore, they are to be turned in ON TIME. Consequently,
papers which are late will not be read and will count as zero, unless you
have made prior arrangements to turn a paper in late.
2. Exams: There will be an in-class midterm exam and a final
exam. Failure to take the exams will result in a zero as there will be
no make-up or substitute exams. If you are unable to take an exam because
of illness, I must be informed before the exam.
3. Class presentation: You will be asked to give a presentation
on one of the lecture topics. The class presentations will take place on
Fridays. I will be happy to discuss possible topics with anyone who needs
help on choosing a topic. Giving a presentation and attending your classmates
presentations is MANDATORY. Therefore your presentation grade will depend
not only on your presentation but attendance at other presentations.
4. Format of the class: Mondays and Wednesdays will be comprised
of lecture and discussion and Fridays will be allocated for class presentations.
5. Course Grade: The above course requirements will contribute
to your grade as follows:
Assignments 15%
Midterm Exam 25%
Final 30%
Discussion & Presentations 30%
